Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Diversity is our strength. Building and maintaining a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment is critical to our mission at the University of Arizona’s College of Applied Sciences and Technology (CAST).

At CAST, we strive to create and cultivate a diverse environment for our students, faculty, and staff without exclusion and regard to race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, religion, or people with disabilities. We recognize the value of diversity and its critical influence on the exchange of new ideas as well as understanding ourselves and others in an ever-changing and ever more interconnected world.

CAST is dedicated to making academic pursuits in applied sciences and technology inclusive for everyone.  We encourage the CAST community to share and express their unique life experiences, especially on diversity and inclusion challenges, so that we gain a better understanding of how these challenges affect the quality of life for our CAST community. We strive to provide an open space for engaging in sensitive dialogue that identifies and recognizes institutional barriers created by structural discrimination that hinder our diversity and inclusion initiatives.

As a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) with close ties to the local military community, diversity and inclusion are central to our mission. Our college takes great pride in and is enriched by the diverse regions that we serve. CAST encourages its students, faculty, and staff to communicate the importance of diversity and inclusion through leadership excellence, free and open intellectual debate and dialogue, and most importantly, understanding and empathy.
